Description / Pearled Farro 400g Organic
Alce Nero Pearled Farro (Denomination: Pearled Farro) is a specialty made from pearled farro (contains gluten). It is produced by Alce Nero & Mielizia and distributed by Alce Nero di Monterenzio (BO).
Farro has such ancient origins that Pliny the Elder described it as "the first food of ancient Lazio." Alce Nero farro belongs to the Triticum Dicoccum genus. The morphological characteristics of this plant make it particularly suited to cultivation in otherwise unproductive soil: its tall stature ensures good competition against weeds. Its root system develops in direct proportion to its height (110-120 cm), allowing it to access the deeper, nutrient-rich layers of the soil, unlike modern grains with a less developed root system (40-60 cm), which only feed on the surface, and therefore poorer, soil layers. Alce Nero organic pearled farro is grown in Italy.
