Bio Line Laboratories present their maltitol , a sweetener obtained through an industrial process from cereal malt ; compared to common sucrose (white sugar), it has a lower calorific value ( 50% less !), an almost similar sweetness (both in strength and flavour) and finally a glycemic index equal to 53% , always compared to sucrose.

Maltitol is a bulk sweetener used as a complete or partial replacement for sugar (sucrose) in the same amount . Compared to sucrose, it has a lower solubility, which can, however, be improved by heating the mixture to which it is added.

Does this product contain gluten?

The company that packages this product ( Laboratorio Bioline Srl ) is implementing a self-regulated packaging process to minimize the risk of contamination from cereals containing gluten (this process will be completed by the end of 2017). In the meantime, it only packages certified gluten-free products (meaning no cereals containing gluten or derivatives are packaged in the same environment). However, the self-regulated process that will be implemented will aim to strengthen controls (primarily product analysis) and minimize any potential contamination due to reasons other than the packaging of gluten-free cereals (e.g., possible presence in the air within the plant, on staff clothing, on packaging containers, etc.). Until this self-regulated process is implemented, Laboratori Bio Line prefers not to market the product with the " gluten-free " claim, even though the risk of contamination is very rare.

Bio Line Laboratories offers a high-quality, safe, and excellent product, with a low caloric content and a sweetness almost similar to that of sucrose. Maltitol has a glycemic index of 53.
