Aromatic paper of Eritrea

Eritrean Aromatic Paper was created in 1927 by Dr. Vittoriano Casanova, a pharmacist in Piacenza, who, after more than three years of research, developed an Officinal Aromatic Paper that could provide a lasting fragrance to rooms through fumigation. At the time, fumigation was widely used, and numerous incense blends and Officinal Papers were listed in the Official Pharmacopoeias of several Northern European countries. Eritrean Aromatic Paper has been made ever since with the same formulation, composed of a blend of over 30 natural essential oils , the majority of which are of African and Asian origin, musks, and resins . The latter are still ground by hand in a mortar and left to infuse in pure alcohol for weeks. The final mixture is used to soak the pure cellulose bibulous paper, which is then dried and cut to create the classic "booklets." The extraordinary scent of Eritrean Aromatic Paper, released by burning the strips, is created without the use of artificial colorants or laboratory-reconstructed fragrances. The inimitable fragrance of Eritrean Aromatic Paper is used to create a complete line of products for air freshening rooms, cars, and aromatherapy. Dr. Vittoriano Casanova has been awarded the gold medal by the Order of Pharmacists of the Province of Piacenza.
