Description / 250g Organic Bronze-Drawn Farro Shells
A pasta rich in flavor and easily digestible!
Farro Shells are a specialty made entirely with 100% whole, stone-ground Italian dicoccum spelt flour, processed using traditional artisanal methods: low pressure, bronze drawing, and static drying at very low temperatures. Farro is an ancestor of modern wheat and comes in three main varieties: Spelt, Dicoccum, and Einkorn , plus other less common sub-varieties. While Dicoccum is very similar to durum wheat, Spelt and Einkorn resemble soft wheat.
Farro , compared to wheat, is much less productive and is harvested while still covered in a husk, which must be removed before it can be consumed. Its low productivity, combined with the hulling process , results in a price 10 times higher than that of wheat. Introducing farro into your diet can represent an interesting alternative to grain consumption.
Nutritionally , spelt has a higher protein content than other types of wheat. It is a cereal rich in vitamins (A, E, C, and B vitamins) and minerals (magnesium, iron, calcium, and zinc), but low in fat .
Try it with vegetable sauces!
WHY CHOOSE THIS PRODUCT
100% organic
it has a great price
it's healthy and natural
it is a valid alternative to traditional pasta
COOKING TIME (min.):4-6 minutes.
HOW TO USE
Bring water to a boil in a pot, season with salt to taste, and add the contents of the package. Cook for 4 minutes for al dente pasta, or add 2 minutes for well-cooked pasta. The intense, hearty flavor of whole-grain farro pairs well with raw and cooked vegetables (like turnip greens), spicy recipes, or creamy vegetable sauces like cabbage or leek and anchovy sauce. We do not recommend pairing it with tomato sauce. This pasta is also excellent with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese.
