It is produced in the Varaita Valley , at the foot of Monviso. Being a combination of two types of honey, it embodies the characteristics of both: renowned for its antispasmodic and astringent properties , because it promotes blood circulation and is a urinary tract disinfectant. Recommended for the elderly and children. Typical characteristics of chestnut honey, but it is also a sedative for menstrual cramps, calming, diuretic, and digestive . Suitable for expectorant herbal teas. It has sudorific properties , excellent against insomnia and irritability , characteristics typical of lime honey. It is generally liquid or crystallizes slowly, not always regularly. The color is amber and the flavor is pungent at first, then turns into a combination of bitterness and menthol.
